"Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past."
Henry Ward Beecher

  1. Nice picture Arun but I kinda have other thoughts about the quote! Why should it be limited to January 1st? Start with a fresh page every day, every moment!

  2. True... but quite idealistic...practically it is difficult to execute...
One needs external points of reference and sufficiently spaced milestones to set goals and start anew. New Year is one such. You can have your own custom milestones too. A day is too short and too frequent to analyze what’s happening.

  3. idealistic -- yeah it is very idealistic and diff. to follow, i agree... but u seem to have missed the point of what i had commented, probably i didn't express it properly... the point is NOT to analyze what's happening and thats what the quote says too :-) and my opinion is you don't need a new year to to do this :-)... don't analyze, learning from mistakes is human nature and we don't really have to analyze them to learn!!... just live in the moment :-)

  4. Man has to reinvent himself again and again, like a snake which loses its skin periodically. So, a symbolic day or event would be a driver/reason to start anew. New Year is one such. Bhogi is one too. But it is important to have such days/events, so that he will retrospect his life and make some meaningful decisions.

Living in the moment is good, but without periodic checks it may be disastrous. It’s like not checking the compass periodically, to gauge the direction of your ship due to which you may never reach your desired destination.
